Apps to watch – Flyne (Beta)
Tuesday, October 22, 2013
The power of the Android platform is in its developers . These
developers do not cease to surprise us with creativity. What makes the Android
platform to stand out from the other is the possibility that developers can
have apps on Play Store that are still in beta phase. In most of the cases in
order to download the beta version of the application the only requirement is
to join the Google+ Community. At this same Google+ Community you can leave problems
you encountered, or suggestions regarding the app.
Large companies prefer to produce apps that are closed and
they basically don’t want to hear the opinions of the end users . However
smaller developer communities and individuals who make beta applications are
generally open for suggestions and assistance in the development of their
application. Therefore the application at the end receives and gains strong
community and becomes very useful to users and not just companies.
There are certainly a bunch of applications that are currently
in beta stage, but Flyne is definitely an application that I think will get the
attention of users and evolve into a serious project.
Flyne is offline reader for Twitter. It will provide you
with full offline articles from your favorite twitter feeds. It is created by
Joaqim Verges, the creator of the popular and maybe the best Twitter app –
Falcon Pro. Flyne will allow reading the news without Internet access. Of
course, this doesn’t mean that you don’t need Internet access at all. To
collect the news you will certainly need Internet connection.
App Description
Flyne is quick and simple application that allows you to
keep up to date with your favorite news sources. Flyne uses Twitter lists to
allow you access to your favorite news and blogs, and the ones that your
friends recommend. Flyne collects and downloads the full articles for later
offline viewing and displays them in a form suited for mobile devices. Flyne
looks like a newspaper, page by page you can move through the articles and view
photos in the gallery.
If you want to try it, you must go the developer’s site and leave your email.
