App of the Day – Contactive Caller ID and Dialer

How would you like to have the phone number, email address, Twitter, Linkedin, Facebook, Whatsapp, Skype, Tango and Google profiles of your friends in one app? Contactive will enable you just that and that is why it is one of the best replacements of the boring stock phone dialer and address book, with so much more features and so much better design.

Praised by TechCrunch and XDA Developers, Contactive is a free app that works in very simple way. This app collects data from all of your linked social media accounts, publically available sources and their big global directory. So, you will not only get info when someone from your contacts is calling you, but also you will get info about the unknown numbers.

After you install the app, you need to sign up with all of your social media accounts, or with the ones you prefer. Currently I only linked my Twitter and Facebook account. Then the app will automatically add social media contacts to all of your contacts that use social media.

After that everything is easy. If you select certain contact, you can get detailed info about the contact like: contact information, last call and last message and links to his social media accounts. If you want to call him, then the app will offer you Phone or Skype, or if you want to message him it will offer you SMS, Skype, Viber, Tango or WhatsApp. Thus, you will be more effective if you constantly contact certain people.

The app will also inform you for the location and other info about the unknown numbers calling you. It is certainly one of the best caller IDs that are available free on Google Play.

The UI, Design and Menu of Contactive

I especially liked the nicely designed keypad. On top of the keypad you can add your favorite contacts, or contacts you call the most, so you can make quick calls directly from the keypad. The Quick Call will enable you to call to your recent and favorite contacts. Lists is where the app will create lists according to some data from your social media accounts. For example, in my case it grouped all of my friends from my College. Also, you can create your custom lists, like family, close friends etc. Updates is where you will get important updates from the Social Media.

At the bottom of the app is the search bar and the add contact icon. Also, there is the Settings icon, from where you can sync your accounts and edit your preferences.

Overall, the app is very fast, with intuitive UI and I will definitely keep this on my phone for a long time.

Edit: Since the release of this article Contactive updated their app in their big v1.5.0 release. The design is new and improved, most of the minor bugs are fixed and you can send Facebook, Skype or Whatsapp messages right from Contactive.
