Duolingo is now available for Android and it is absolutely amazing
Thursday, May 30, 2013
Duolingo is the best free website for learning languages who
was praised by many media giants, and that was all deserved because the website
is truly amazing. Now the Duolingo team took another step forward with the
publishing of an Android app that is now available on Google Play for free.
We already presented Rosetta Stone for Android, but that app
is not free. Yes, you get a free demo account and you can start learning
certain language, but at some point you’ll have to buy the software which will
be synced with your Android account. Duolingo on the other side, is totally
free, forever.
If you already have a Duolingo account created on the
website (like I do from a while ago), it will be synced with the Android app. I
got to say, that learning through a smartphone is far more interesting, easy
and comfortable.
The UI of the app is smooth and clean, the app is fast and
perfectly designed. There are different levels and numerous tasks that will get
harder as you progress. All your progress is easy to see and you can complete
certain task, again and again, till you are 100% sure that you remember it. There
are no ads to bug you and I’m sure that you’ll have fun learning the desired
language.
The only flaw of the app is that it is still unavailable for
tablets. But, the developers are currently working on such version that will be
released in the next few weeks. Duolingo for Android was released yesterday (29.05.2013)
and it already has 1130 reviews with great average rating of 4.8.
EDIT: From June 26 the app is now compatible with tablets. Awesome.
